Japanese Vending Machines

This project explores the colorful world of Japanese vending machines. Japanese vending machines are an integral part of the country's landscape and culture. They are found everywhere, from bustling cities to quiet rural areas, and are used by people of all ages and walks of life. These machines offer a convenient, quick and accessible way to purchase a wide variety of products, from snacks and drinks to umbrellas and batteries.

There is virtually nowhere in Japan that can offer escape from vending machines. Japanese culture highly values conformity, often focusing on 'sameness.' Japanese vending machines feature neatly stacked items resemble modern architecture, creating a pattern of uniformity. Many of my Japanese Vending Machine images subtly capture patterns of repetition and conformity.
